Bratislava or Bust Car Rally!
There are places still left on VSO’s exciting car rally across Europe to Bratislava! The adventure starts in Canterbury, Kent, where you and your friends will report for seven days of a fun-filled adventure which will see you wind your way through France, Belgium, Lichtenstein, Italy, Austria and Slovakia.
So if you’re looking for an euro road trip adventure this summer with your mates, then get in your cars and be in with a chance of winning up to £2000 cash prizes en route.
It’s all in aid of charity and with just £100, we can, for example, help support a HIV care giver, training them in new techniques, helping them to reach remote areas and patients and helping to improve the quality of their work.

The end of an era - After 7 years GX is ending
The Global Xchange programme of the British Council and VSO will come to an end on 31 March 2012 on completion of its current funding cycle. In the seven years of Global Xchange, the programme enabled more than 1500 young volunteers from 37 countries to gain a deeper understanding of other cultures, make an impact in communities across the globe and form networks dedicated to positive change.
Global Xchange volunteers changed many lives, through their contributions in 2000 community organisations where they volunteered and in the thousands of host homes where they lived. Global Xchange inspired many young people to become active global citizens, through choosing to work in cultural relations or international development; through campaigning for change; or becoming more involved in their own communities.
The British Council and VSO are proud of the achievements of Global Xchange. The success of the partnership between the British Council and VSO, and the lessons learned from seven years of experience have gone on to inform the UK government’s International Citizen Service youth volunteering programme which VSO will lead from 1 April 2012. The British Council, through its Society programmes, will continue to offer opportunities for young people to build their intercultural skills, engage in their communities and network with their peers in UK and other countries.
VSO and the British Council remain committed to working with young people to develop their skills and understanding of the world.

Last Chance for April Departures
There are fewer than 50 places left on the last GX Youth Action programmes, which will start in April 2012.
The deadline for applications is Friday 17th February.
So if you’re 18-22 and interested in making a difference in a community in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Sierra Leone or Zambia, then apply before Friday 17th February to be in with a chance of taking part.
